WHY BUILD SCHOOLS IN MYANAMR

Why build schools in Myanmar?
Myanmar is one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia. In the villages we visit, classrooms are over-crowded. Sanitation is dire. The buildings are in disrepair. And, like parents everywhere, the villagers want their children to be well educated.
According to the World Bank, 32.7% of the population of Myanmar lives below the poverty line of $1.25 per day. Despite rich natural and human resources, Myanmar ranks only 149 out of 187 countries on the Human Development Index. With a population of over 60 million, Myanmar has severe economic challenges and its education system is strained beyond capacity. Children’s access to a decent education is threatened throughout the country.
Furthermore, according to Unicef data for 2008-12, approximately 90 percent of children ages 6 to 10 in Myanmar attend primary school. But attendance plummets in secondary school, where just 58 percent of adolescent boys and girls still go to school.

Mission to Nation

Mission to Nation!
I see, the rural people are horrible but they are very simple and humble.
I see , the rural people are poor but they are very rich in simple, kindness, helping.
I see, the rural people are uneducated but they are deserved to human standard.
I see, the rural people are poor in health but they are deserved to healthiness.
I hope, we can do something for them.
I hope, we can change the country with them.
I hope , we can change together a better a country.
This hope is an anchor for my country.

Why Open Canada Centre in Myanmar

1)      11.01.2015 Sunday at midnight:

The Executive Committee of Canada centre, traveled to Myanmar to support  the  Rural  Myanmar Education and  Health.

Even though I haven't had a chance to be directly involved in this noble journey, I'm really happy and appreciated our entire donations going to the rural Myanmar Education and Health.

In Canada, I pay two dollars and more for a cup of Starbucks coffee. If I drink two cups per day, I have to pay five dollars per day.  Now, I decided to save daily five dollar rather than drinking coffee. These coffees will worth five dollars for the Rural Myanmar Education, Health.

2)
The idea of the rural development has appeared last 2012, when I was visiting my hometown.  I have heard of my niece’s sad news that she couldn’t attend high school because of her parent couldn’t afford it.

When I started my Buddhist missionary aboard, she was one year old.
I returned to Burma in last 2012, she is already a 12-year-old in the grade seven.

Even though she  haven’t seen  me  long 12-years, distant from hometown, she came to  see  me friendly at Yangon airport  as soon as I arrived from abroad.   I think, it is blood speaking, after we have talked in conversation, she told to me what she wanted to be. She said: she has to quit after grade seven in village, because of her parent can’t afford to attend high school in town.

Her father passed away, when she was one year of age. The family left three daughters and one son. I took a responsibility to ordain a son as a novice at that time.

When I felt this kind of sadness, I granted to support her continuing education at Yangon.  She was so happy and said: I’ll tell her mom she will be continuing her higher education.

After I returned to Canada, I asked her, 'do you have plan to continuing education at Yangon’, she said, she hasen’t changed to attend high school because no one would help her mother with household shores.

I feel really sad that my niece was back to darkness.

3)
On November of 2014, my beloved mother passed away, after her funeral service, all my brother and sister agreed to donate my mother’s house and land for Rural Development in Myanmar.

Now, I am really glad to see, the Canada Centre will be for those who can’t afford for their education and health like my nice in the rural Myanmar. The first group of Centers Promoters Association of Canada Centre will donate school aid the rural areas.

When our mission is accomplished, we will bring together all the hopeless children and light up together with knowledge, and capability and progress in this darkness area that the rural Myanmar.

Mission to Nation

Last Sunday, we received a phone call from the Canada Centre Coordinator Ko Han Nyunt from Yangon.

He had passed on the news that due to the support efforts coordinated and delivered through the Canada Centre  Foundation, Ma Nyunt Than from the village of Thanut Pin, who has been suffering from renal complications has greatly improved and has actually returned to her family at the village.

For those communities that have little education and access to health in the rural areas, our ability to provide support from afar and overseas through the Canada Centre has brought great joy and accomplishment to  us.

Even though our individual contributions are small on their own, as each individual vapor mist come together to create a beautiful rainbow, our collective efforts will create great improvements to these communities and we can all take joy in our small contributions.

Ma Nyunt Than, who is mentioned earlier, did not have access to the Hospital services to improve on her renal condition relating to a Liver disease. As a result, she had been resulting to the traditional medicines but her conditions had been deteriorating to critical phases. Her suffering had been great due to this declining condition.

Attempts to take her to the Hospitals in Yangon had been thought of but could not happen due to the lack of financial support.

Earlier in 2015, when delegations from the Canada Centre were visiting to the communities, their focused planning and commitment to improve the education and access to health have resulted in the direct contribution to the improvement of the healthcare for people like Ma Nyunt Than.

A sum of five thousand ( 500,000)  Kyat was administered to focus on helping Ma Nyunt Than at the time when she was needing the care the most and effective care was able to be provided in Yangon. Her return to the wellbeing and subsequent discharge and return to the community is one of the great success stories of the effectiveness of the Centre.

To all the patrons from within and abroad who have been and continuing to support the efforts of the Canada Centre, we would like to share this great news story with all of you and would like to Thank you for your great deeds.

May Buddha blessing upon all!

Opening Canada Centre in Myanmar

When the announcement on Facebook of the plan for Canada Centre, in support of Rural Myanmar Education and Health, to be opened in Myanmar, all my near and dear friends from near and afar as well as the devotees expressed a lot of interest in support of this noble project.

Purpose
For those of us who have settled in Canada, we are always happy to donate together to support our old friends who are working for freedom and prosperity in Myanmar.

We always want to show solidarity and support various causes and services such as the Storm Nargis devastation in the Irrawaddy region, Mithila’s crisis, Latpatoung Mountain’s crisis, Rakhing uprising, to humanitarian free funeral services led by Kyaw Thu.

When such issues arise, our experiences have shown that, with the lack of local communication centre, it is difficult to communicate and donate to the regions and people that have been effected and also the donors become less interested in our contributions due to lack of a cohesive coordination.

Therefore, “The Canada Centre” will be opened for all Myanmar Canadians where my beloved mother donated her house and land in Myanmar

Canadian religious hall (Dhammaram)

The name of Canada Centre term is easy to reference for the Canadians and The Myanmar villagers also can be called Canadian religious hall.
When the Canada Centre is completed, initially, the center will be able support social and educational services for the ten villages in the surrounding area.

Short teams Dharma classes

In 2015 May, The Canada centre will open Dhamma class for adults and youths led by Dr. Nandavumsa from The United States, Texas.
Afterwards, the Center will be opened to provide both Dharma study programs as well as opened to the studies to improve Health and Education of Rural Myanmar.

Educating the people and youth of rural Myanmar with modern knowledge, know-how, and skills that are relevant to developing economic and social sustainability is the key focus of the Canadian Centre.

We are very excited about this noble and wonderful journey that we strongly believe will enable prosperity for many generations of Myanmar people in the rural regions for now and the future.
We would appreciate any support to this noble cause.
